Aygul Avtakhova is a Senior Associate at Correggio Consulting with specific expertise in EU financial regulation and traded energy markets. Skilled in market analysis and project management, Aygul advises clients on a range of European energy policy developments impacting business strategy, regulatory compliance and trade documentation. In 2015 and 2016, she gained valuable experience in technical assistance projects leading to gas market development in Turkey.
A trained lawyer, she has several years' experience in supporting multiple clients’ business activities within the energy sector, notably on compliance with EU gas market rules and financial regulation. Earlier in her career, Aygul gained first-hand experience of EU policy-making during her time at the Financial and Legal Unit of the European Commission, DG External Relations. She has also worked as a lawyer at Magisters & Partners in Moscow, advising foreign clients on antitrust issues, mergers clearances and cross-border corporate structuring. Aygul holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Tilburg.

Her consulting assignments cover a broad range of strategic issues for companies active or intending to be active in European energy commodities markets, including compliance with industry regulation and business impact analysis, contractual support and risk management and due diligence work for infrastructure projects.
In her parallel function of Manager for European gas markets at EFET, Aygul supports industry work on the implementation of the third energy package, development and implementation of the EU gas network codes, tariff issues, gas hub development, capacity trading, security of supply, REMIT and financial regulation. Previously, she worked closely on contractual standardisation and legal matters, helping to develop standard industry documentation to assist in negotiations and minimise risk exposure.
